Russian Technology Platform «FOOD for LIFE»
for integration with the 7th Framework Programme of EC

Vision Statement

Russia occupies an important place in the world food market, both as country-producer and as country-consumer. Russian Technological Platform «Food for Life» is considered as a tool for realization of joint EU-Russia projects which takes care on the development of healthy food principles for benefit of Russia, EU and other countries, i.e.:

  • integrates leading Russian institutions and experts in food manufacturing, food safety and healthy nutrition;
  • addresses to food science for development and implantation of joint novel technologies into practice;
  • attracts national funds and promotes organization of European support through the new tools provided by the 7-th framework programme of the European Community.

Capabilities for EU partners:

  • Dissemination of information about EC partners in Russia.
  • Provision of information about Russian scientific and technological potential.
  • Partner search in Russia.

Capabilities for Russian partners:

  • Assistance in preparation of informational materials about background and possibilities of Russian partners.
  • Submission of information about relevant calls/programs of EC.
  • Partner search within EC countries.
  • Consultation on different issues associated with preparation of joint projects.

Instruments of Cooperation:

  • Analysis of regional features of food manufacturing & consumption
  • Preparation and discussions of proposals for joint researches
  • Proposition of projects
  • Creation of systems for informational exchange

Prerequisites of the Platform Creation

In modern global economics development of food production technologies is extremely important. Activity of Technology Platform "Food for Life" is directed to realization of actions provided by project “Fundamentals of state police in the field of healthy nutrition of population in Russian Federation for the period until 2020”; integration of the efforts of researchers and manufacturers within the development and introduction in to practice of modern approaches of food production, control of foodstuffs quality and strategies of healthy nutrition; focusess on those areas which would help to meet the consumer’s needs in healthy, safe, varied and affordable food. These thrusts were defined as research areas that would lead to creation of new products, development and improvement of technological processes that would:

  • improve health, quality of life;
  • provide consumer trust in the food chain

Main Priorities of Development of Russian Food Industry and Healthy Nutrition:

  • Ensuring of food safety.
  • Safety and biosafety of food raw materials and foodstuffs.
  • Monitoring of the status of nutrition and estimation of risks connected with the development of being distributed alimentari-dependent diseases in view of nutrition peculiarities in separate regions.
  • Development of domestic production of food ingredients, that are necessary for modern manufacture of foodstuffs, including enriched irreplaceable nutrients foodstuffs, functional products, specialized medical and preventive food products.
  • Organization of addressed food assistance to indigent population.
  • Support of domestic production of specialized products for children.
  • Formation and training of various groups of population within the questions of healthy nutrition. Creation of corresponding sanitary nutrition centers.

The Platform unites key research organizations, unions of manufacturers, leading factories of the Russian food industry. Representatives of different regions participate in the Platform activities both via direct membership and via all-Russian unions.
